About Hackney Best Bar None
Following its successes in 2006/07 and 2007/08, we are delighted to announce details of the Hackney Award Scheme 2009.
What is Hackney Best Bar None?
Run jointly by Hackney Council, Hackney Police and the London Fire Brigade, the scheme seeks to develop a standard of excellence within Hackney's licensed premises through assessing the practices and measures that alcohol licensed venues have in place. The scheme aims to provide a safe and pleasant environment for patrons, as well as reduce the impact of patrons on those that live and work in the locality of the licensed premises. The scheme is based on the licensing objectives, which are:
- Prevention of crime and disorder
- Public safety
- Prevention of public nuisance
- Protection of children from harm

All eligible pubs, bars, clubs, off-licences and certain restaurants with a bar in Haggerston Ward are invited to take part in the scheme.
