About Hackney Best Bar None

The Hackney Best Bar None Award Scheme was successfully piloted last year in the Shoreditch Special Policy Area (SPA) to acknowledge and recognise the licensed trade's contribution to making Hackney a safe and professional environment to live, work, visit and socialise in.

Run jointly by Hackney Council and Hackney Police, the scheme seeks to develop a standard of excellence within Hackney's licensed premises through assessing the practices and measures that alcohol licensed venues have in place. The scheme aims to provide a safe and pleasant environment for patrons, as well as reduce the impact of patrons on those that live and work in the locality of the licensed premises. The scheme is based on the licensing objectives, which are:

• Prevention of crime and disorder
• Public safety
• Prevention of public nuisance
• Protection of children from harm

All eligible pubs, bars, clubs and certain restaurants with a bar in Haggerston Ward and the Shoreditch Special Policy Area are invited to take part in the scheme.
